Yankees Tickets – Playing the Money Game

by on November 25, 2010 updated April 19, 2014

Stop the presses!. Are the New York Yankees suddenly going to try and exercise some fiscal responsibility? If so, it could change the face of Major League Baseball in a big way.  After all, the Yankees have drawn the ire of many a baseball fan by throwing tons of money at big name free agents, It’s kind of their stock in trade, just a Yankee thing. and while it hasn’t always worked out, most of the time New York can solve the problem by… throwing more money at it.

But now the New York Yankees have gone on record as stingy. The biggest team in baseball has denied arbitration to Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, and several others. The Yankees have gone as far as saying Jeter can test the free agent market and should if he doesn’t like it. Is the recession that bad that the biggest team in baseball has to watch their money? As the man once said “A few million here and a few million there and suddenly you’re talking real money.”
