After spending over a billion dollars to put together one of the grandest stadiums in any sport, much less Major league baseball, the New York Yankees opened their new venue with a resounding loss to the Cleveland Indians. It’s hard to pin the blame on any one aspect of the Yankees game, it was just a generally blase performance from a team that should have been fired up in a new home. The Yankees are at 5-5 right now, three games behind the Toronto Blue Jays and one game behind the Baltimore Orioles. But take heart Yankees fans. You have one hell of a stadium.
I’ve just finished reading a rather lengthy article on everything to be found in the Yankees new home. We’re talking huge buckets of popcorn, multiple varieties of mega fattening food, acres of shopping, and more ways tpo spend a dollar that any one human can enjoy in a year. My wife can’t hear about this place. I find it rather heartening that in this year of 2009, when the economy seems to be collapsing and people are frantically hanging on to their jobs or even more frantically searching for a new one, the New York Yankees can continue to wave the banner of excess. It just makes me think that everything is going to be alright. At least if you have New York Yankees tickets.Eric Drouant
