Tom (Brady) Foolery – Now for Real News

by on December 28, 2008 updated December 28, 2008

Of all the NFL news coming up, with a weekend of NFL games just ahead that will determine the eventual Super Bowl contenders, we get news of Tom Brady of the New England Patriots engagement topping the headlines. Congrats but let’s get back to business.

To begin with the intrigue starts with the Miami Dolphins needing a win over the New York Jets to clinch an unlosable playoff berth. There are other scenarios in case of a loss but that won’t happen. The Fish are in by my book. The San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos are in a winner take all battle for the AFC West. Won’t go any farther but hey. The Baltimore Ravens are also in a “win and in” situation, lacking only a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The NFC also carries an excellent scenario with plenty of games detrming the fate of several teams. The Carolina Panthers are already in but must beat the New Orleans Saints to get a first round bye. The Minnesota Viking are facing a do or die game against the Giants but could sneak in if Houston tops the Chicago Bears. The Arizona Cardinals are already in for what that’s worth The way they’ve been playing it’s like the Governor temporarily postponing your execution. It’s still coming. The Atlanta Falcons should continue their amazing revival with a win over the hapless Rams. They’ll be keeping their eye on Saints-Panthers to see if they get a bye. Both the Tampa bay Buccaneers and America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys, need wins and help to get in.

That’s a good deal. No matter which NFL tickets you’re holding, the odds are good that the game will have playoff implication. Dancin Dave, where are you? You got a Rolex watch so you can blog on time.
