It seems Bret Favre is in the drivers seat again. except this time he’s not steering the Green Bay Packers offense down the field, he’s steering his way to millions of dollars for NOT playing. The Green Bay braintrust seems to feel that Favre will immediately defect to the Minnesota Vikings if released, thereby giving a division rival a significant upgrade at quarterback. Currently, Tarvaris Jackson is the starting QB for the Vikings, and though he’s shown talent at times he hasn’t been spectacular.
What a situation. It could spark a new trend in the NFL. What if somebody had paid Bill Parcells to stay away from the Miami Dolphins? Or how about somebody paying that guy who coaches the New England Patriots a few million to retire and let the rest of the NFL have a shot? For God sakes somebody come up with enough cash to get rid of Al Davis so the Oakland Raiders can be a team again instead of a laughingstock.
