This week is why we LOVE College Football tickets

by on October 1, 2007 updated October 1, 2007

The results of this week’s college football games are a shining example of what college football tickets offer. The chance to see the impossible happen in front of your eyes. The fact that the football gods laid it in front of us in such abundance in a single week serves to make it more striking. Here’s what happened:

Bringing real tears to Dancin Daves eyes, the Oklahoma Sooners fell to the Colorado Buffaloes 27-24. Making it all the sweeter for Colorado, they rallied from a 24-7 deficit to win with a last second field goal.

The Auburn Tigers also used a field goal to knock off the #4 Florida Gators in Gainesville.

The USC Trojans narrowly slipped by an unranked Washington team to win 27-24. Maybe misses the definition of upset but falls under “moral victory” for Washington, right?

The LSU Tigers played a miserable 1st half, leading by only 10-9 at the break before beating Tulane fairly soundly. This game reinforces my belief that in-state rivalries birth the biggest upsets.

Coming into game at #7, the Texas Longhorns get soundly whipped by Kansas State 41-21. To me, the 20 point gap makes this the biggest upset. Kansas State dominated. Yippee Yi Yo.

The list goes on but this enough to make my point. College Football offers more upsets pound for pound than any other sport. That’s why you’ve got to be there for what may seem like otherwise ho hum games. You just never know.

Lastly, let me express my condolences to my partner Dancin Dave, who no doubt spent Monday seeking grief counseling after watching his beloved Sooners fall to Colorado. He’s spent the better part of this year making plans to watch them in the BCS National Championship. Oh well, mice and men.
