Houston Texans tickets just found their path getting much clearer in the trip to their first NFL playoff appearance. The announcement that Peyton Manning won’t be playing means the Texans odds of a winning season and even an AFC South division title, just got a lot better.
The Texans will also be playing at somewhat of a disadvantage this week as they take on the Colts at home. Adrian Foster is injured and doubtful, a big minus. But the absence of Manning under center is huge and it gives the Houston Texans a big opportunity to seize the lead early in the 2011 NFL season.
Instead of Manning, the Texans will be defending against veteran Kerry Collins, a former Pro Bowler on the shady side of his retirement. While Collins has been effective in the past, his familiarity with the Colts offense, and his age are definitely factors. Many in the Colts column have been pushing for backup Curtis Painter to start in place of Manning but the coaching staff voted in favor of Collins. We’ll see how it works out.
