The Texas Longhorns have themselves a #1 ranking smack dab in the middle of the season. It’s going to be a real test to see if they can hold on to it, or become victims of an increasing trend toward the top ranked teams getting knocked off. Being #1 or #2 hasn’t been the best position over the past couple of seasons. Yesterdays victory over Missouri is a good start. The Longhorns managed a convincing 56-31 victory over the Bulldogs, which should enough to keep them at #1 in the BCS standings. Over the next few weeks they’ll face an explosive Oklahoma State Cowboys team that’s currently undefeated, and a high scoring Kansas Jayhawks squad that put up impressive numbers in a losing effort against the Sooners. Can the Longhorns hang on to #1 and gain that coveted spot in the BCS National Championship Game? Vince Young is watching.
