This is the time of year when teams are gearing up to earn their Super Bowl tickets. How do you earn Super Bowl tickets? First step is winning that playoff berth. Right now it looks like the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots are the top seeds in the NFL. But that could change as the league has structured the season for meaningful division games in the last month.
For the Atlanta Falcons that means facing the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome next week. Win there, and the Falcons are like 19-1 with Matt Ryan under center, and the falcons will have a virtual lock on the top seed. A loss means they’ll have to beat lowly Carolina to fill the slot.
In the AFC the New England Patriots and Tom Brady have things well in hand at 11-2. The Pittsburgh Steelers are close behind however at 10-3 and things could get interesting should the Pats stumble. But with a schedule that features and ailing Green Bay Packers, Miami, and lowly Buffalo, New England is pretty much a sure thing.
The rest of the pack in both conferences will have to fight their way through New England and Atlanta. But bear in mind that the Arizona Cardinals went from a Wild Card berth at 9-7 to a Super Bowl and were one play away from capturing an NFL title against the Steelers so anything can happen. And that’s the way we like it.
