Sox push Rays to Game 7

Well, it pretty much had to happen. The Boston Red Sox have pushed the American League Championship to the 7th game. After a massive rally in Game 5 the talk was all about whether or not Boston had done a number on the Devil Rays heads, planting the seeds of doubt about destiny. For all the denials there can be little doubt that dropping a game after leading by seven runs played havoc with Tampa’s confidence. The Red Sox went back to Tropicana Field and served up a 4-2 slice of humble pie. setting up a do or die showdown for a World Series spot.

It’s a familiar position for Boston. In their last two World Series appearance the Red Sox have come back from being down 3-0 and 3-1 to storm into the championship. That fact should keep the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on edge and play into Bostons hand. Nothing is carved into stone, but the Red Sox just keep pushing the edges of reality, making Tampa Bay think they’re only a footnote in the Boston story. It’s going to take a major leap of a mental hurdle for the Devil Rays to come out on top. If you’re a Philadelphia Phillies lover you have to be pulling for Tampa Bay. Boston, on a roll, isn’t a team you want to see.
