Shockey Shipped to Saints

by on July 22, 2008 updated July 22, 2008

I just got word today that former New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey has found a new home with the New Orleans Saints. This is a trade that makes sense on the surface, one of those deals that could end up working out for both teams. But here’s what has to happen:

Shockey will have to stay healthy and keep his mouth shut, something he was unable to do in the Big Apple. the Saints have long needed a quality pass catching tight end to mesh into Sean Paytons’s pass happy offense. But can Shockey be a team player?

The New York Giants will have to make good use of the draft choices and hope that the tight ends who helped them win a Super Bowl continue to play at a high level.
