I’ll go ahead and throw out my props to the Seattle Seahawks right up front. Seattle played a brilliant game at home against the New Orleans Saints and totally earned the right to play the Chicago Bears. Despite the frenzy around their losing record the Seahawks were the better team last Sunday. But they won’t be at home. They’ll be in Chicago.
The Chicago Bears surprised me this season. I didn’t expect to see them in the playoffs, but here they are hosting a playoff game. Was it all smoke and mirrors? We’ll find out.
The Seattle Seahawks come into Chicago where it will be cold and windy. Bear weather. Matt Hasselbeck is coming off the game of his life. Can he maintain the intensity and deliver another Pro Bowl performance against the Chicago Bears? Can Jay Cutler avoid the type of game that sees him tossing rainbows instead of strikes?
Of all the NFL games this weekend this is the one that seems to be the most obviously in the home teams favor. The Seattle Seahawks have nothing to lose though and could deliver a killing blow to Lovie Smith. Or, the Bears could continue to defy my expectations and head to the NFC Championship. I just can’t decide.
