The New Orleans Saints, recent winners of the Super Bowl, seemed almost complacent in their post-Super Bowl joy. For awhile it seemed like the party would never end. While other NFL teams went on signing binges the Saints remained silent. Until today that is.
The signing of DE Alex Brown from the Chicago Bears helps New Orleans shore up a still susceptible defense. Good enough to win the Super Bowl, the Saints showed themselves unwilling to stand pat and rest on their laurels. Brown should help a D prone to giving up the big play on the ground. Teams willing to commit to the run seemed to give New Orleans the most problems. The signing of Brown gives New Orleans a little more flexibility in the upcoming NFL draft where it’s expected the Saints can possible get some OLB help, another weak spot with the loss of Scott Fujita.
