Saints vs 49ers – Season Changing Game

by on November 18, 2013 updated November 18, 2013

NFL tickets brought hope and drama to many teams this week, none more than that of the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers. This game couldn’t have been much closer as the Saints Garrett Hartley kicked the winning field goal with no time left on the clock to give New Orleans a 23-20 victory under the most dire of circumstances.

To get there the Saints overcame some glaring mistakes that gave the 49ers 17 points on turnovers. A muffed punt allowed San Francisco to tie things up at 7-7.  An interception by Drew Brees, and a fuble in the end zone kept San Francisco in the game. To win it, New Orleans had to rely on Drew Brees and embattled kicker Hartley, who had missed 4 of 6 coming into the contest.

Then more controversy only this time it went the Saints way. Facing a 3rd and 2 and less than a minute on the clock, Brees was nailed hard by the 49ers Ahmad Brook. Brees fumbled and the ball was recovered by the 49ers. But, the hit was deemed illegal and gave New Orleans a fresh set of downs. A quick pass to Marques Colston gave New Orleans a shot at a winning field goal and Hartley, who kicked three in the fourth quarter to get back on track, pushed it through as the time ran out on San Francisco.

It’s the kind of game that NFL tickets will always bring when two good teams meet. Now New Orleans is going to hold on to the NFC South lead for another week. The 49ers, pegged as Super Bowl contenders, have fallen even farther behind the Seatt;le Seahawks and are in danger of missing even a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Picked earlier as our NFL Tickets of the Week #2, Saints vs 49ers paid off with a barnburner of a game.
