The New Orleans Saints spent 2013 recuperating from the hangover of the Bountygate scandal, a fiasco that cost them the services of Head Coach Sean Payton for all of 2012. The NFL season is looming and from all appearance the saints are ready to reclaim the NFC South title. On defense, the Saints went from worst in NFL history to a 4th place finish under Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan. While New Orleans lost some key playmakers of past seasons, they got younger and the players being plugged in may be even more dynamic. Saints ticket holders are thirsting to see what wide receiver Brandin Cooks can do, the offensive blocking scheme is being tailored to Mark Ingram, and Jimmy Graham is on board again.

All that looks good but the Saints 2014 schedule is nothing to sneeze at. New Orleans will face a tough NFC South schedule, along with some of the best teams in the NFC. Let’s take a closer look at some of the better games we see on the horizon for the New Orleans saints in 2014.

Saints vs Falcons – The Saints and Falcons start things off right in the Georgia Dome on Sept 7th. While New Orleans has been dominant in this series under Sean Payton, they’ll be facing a healthy Falcons team that has taken them to the wire more often than not. The Falcons will also travel to New Orleans on Dec. 21st for a game that could very well decide the division title.

Saints vs Packers – The Saints have the advantage with the Packers coming to the Dome on Oct 26th. That Rob Ryan defense will get a stern test against a Packers offense that gives opponents fits. This is also a game that will help determine playoff standing at season’s end.

Saints vs 49ers – The San Francisco 49ers are still hurting from a New Orleans victory the last time they played in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The Saints remember a playoff beatdown in San Francisco. Two teams with playoff aspirations and a grudge on Nov 9th. It doesn’t get much better.

Saints at Chicago – The Bears are a mystery yet, but coming off their best season is years, and with Trestman rejuvenating the offense, the Bears pose another formidable challenge in the NFC. Game date is Dec. 15th

Saints vs Cincinnati Bengals – On Nov. 16th, the Bengals take their newfound confidence into the Mercedes Benz Superdome, one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Two good teams, one outcome.
