Remember The Titans

by on November 11, 2008 updated November 11, 2008

For those of us who follow the NFL there have been a few things that went without mentioning. The Indianapolis Colts would run off a string of victories to start the season. The New England Patriots would do the same, then these two would meet is some powerhouse AFC Championship preview. It was a pretty easy prediction.

Now all that has gone ut the window. The Tennessee Titans have become the team to beat in the AFC if you want to get anywhere. Nobody has done it yet. Tennessee is an impressive 9-0 to start the season, right in the middle of a record franchise run on regular season victories, and displaying all the elements of a team that could represent their conference in Super Bowl XLIII.

Leading the AFC South by four games over runner up Indianapolis, the Titans hold an almost impossible edge in the division race. And they’re doing it the old fashioned way, with a strong running game, an opportunistic defense, and a veteran quarterback who doesn’t make mistakes. Shrugging off the media circus caused by Vince Young early in the season was just too easy. Jeff Fisher has kept his team focused and ready. It would take a collapse of epic proportions for Tennessee to not make it deep into the playoffs. And nobody saw it coming. You gotta love the NFL.
