I was oh here last week saying that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish could not beat USC. I was very nearly wrong. In an impressive display, the Irish pushed the Trojans to the limit, falling 34-27. It was a much closer game that I would have given Notre Dame credit for, a feat I did not expect them to accomplish. But is it enough to save the job of Charlie Weiss? I doubt it. The Irish had their chances at the end but couldn’t pull it off. I believe Notre Dame will thank Weiss at the end of the season and then begin a search for the next candidate to push the Irish back into national signifigance.
