No bowl games on Christmas … Gasp!

What in the world were the college football big wigs thinking? No game on Christmas Day??!! What are we supposed to do, enjoy family?
Ho, ho, ho … nothing like a little sarcasm to liven things up around here.
Luckily for pigskin junkies like yours truly, there’s enough college football bowl tickets leading up to Santa’s arrival to keep us satisfied through the 25th.
For example, the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl is a terrific way to jumpstart the holiday week on Dec. 23. Don’t let the name throw you off: This is a big-time match-up between a pair of very good non-BCS heavyweights in the undefeated Boise State Broncos and the always-tough TCU Horned Frogs.
Both squads boast extremely stingy defenses and have shown the ability to play with anyone in the country. In fact, as far as pre-Christmas bowls go, the Poinsettia Bowl is by far the tastiest affair.
Then, on Christmas Eve, Notre Dame fans will get a chance to check out the Irish take on the Warriors from Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl.
It’s been a disappointing season for Charlie Weis and the Irish. But a trip to sunny Honolulu is never a bad way to finish up the season.
So as you can see, with Poinsettia Bowl tickets and Sheraton Hawaii Bowl tickets as appetizers, we’ll be nice and ready for the slew of bowl games that will be headed our way after Santa squeezes his big butt back up the chimney.
