NHL Early On – Sharks and Red Wings

by on November 7, 2008 updated April 19, 2014

Who’s on in the NHL? Let’s take a look. The San Jose Sharks are off to a good start at 12-2 and an impressive 8-0 in their home schedule. Losing their goalie won’t help though so it remains to be seen if the Sharks can maintain momentum. Nothing beats a good start though and leading the NHL Eastern Conference qualifies as a good start.

The Detroit Red Wings at 8-2 look ready to make another run at a Stanley Cup. Wait. It’s still early and in the topsy turvy NHL still too soon to bank on anything, especially since the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators are only a single game back in the NHL Western Conference.

The lovable New York Rangers have opened up an early four game lead over the Devils. A harbinger of things to come? And elsewhere in the Buffalo and Montreal are within striking distance. What does all this mean? Not much. As the NHL season progresses injuries and talent will determine the final outcome. But still. a good start is a good start.
