Week 4 of the NFL season is about to be underway and we’re going to take a look around and see how well we can forecast the outcome of the games. WARNING – We’re not very good at this.
Seattle Seahawks vs Houston Texans – The Seahawks are undefeated and trying to get to 4-0 and stay way ahead of the 49ers. Houston has been about as up and down as an NFL team can be. It’s that inconsistency that has us concerned. While the Texans are talented they only seem to click for portions of games while Seattle plays on a very high level for 60 minutes. The Seahawks get their 4-0 record.
Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions – The Lions will get some help this week as Reggie Bush returns from a knee injury. That puts things on a more even keel against a very good Chicago defense that is prone to scoring. While the Bears are 3-0 we’ve got an uneasy feeling that the defense won’t always be able to bail them out. Honestly, this writer looks to Detroit to take this game and make the NFC North a race.
New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons – The big difference here is that the Patriots seem to be finding a way to get the W and the Falcons are just wallowing around in Injuryville. Brady may have Rob Gronkowski back on the field and if he does that will help. It’s going to be close but New England will put the Falcons in a deeper hole than the one they’re already in. Atlanta’s failure to stop the Miami Dolphins when they absolutely had to last week is a major cause for concern.
New York Giants vs Kansas City Chiefs – The big question here is whether the Giants are actually as bad as they look. The other question is whether the Chiefs are as good as their record indicates. The answer to both questions is no. The Giants get their first win.
