NFL Tickets Week 1-Shocking Upsets

by on September 7, 2008 updated September 7, 2008

The NFL season got off to a fine start. there were some big winners, big losers, and some fine upsets. Topping the list of signficant events was the injury to Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. Over the last few years Brady has been Mr. Dependable, starting 120+ games in a row. That streak looks destined to end as Brady suffered a major knee injury according to early reports. While New England should still be competitive, the loss of Brady opens up the AFC for anyone to assume the crown.

Now for the upsets. The Chicago Bears shocked the Indianapolis Colts 29-13. Manning looked like a quarterback that hasn’t played in the preseason. Even worse, the Colts defense got shredded by Kyle Orton and rookie running back Matt Forte.

The San Diego Chargers underperformed for the gazillionth time as the Carolina Panthers staked out a last second win 26-24.

The Buffalo Bills knocked off a weak looking Seattle Seahawks team 34-10. Buffalo scored on both special teams and defense. The Seahawks have no wide receivers. It’s sunny in Buffalo and rainy in Seattle.

Monday Night best bet: Green Bay Packers vs Minnesota Vikings. Aaron Rodgers begins his quest to make Packers fans forget Favre. Adrian Peterson and the Vikings will be looking for Tarvaris Jackson to rovide some kind of passing game down the field. If he can, the Vikes will be the team to beat in the NFC North.
