Disclaimer – Try not to read too much into pre-season performances! But t’s fun so here we go.
Atlanta Falcons – Quarterback Matt Ryan looks like he could be the real thing. Which is a great boost for the Falcons after the Vick debacle. Nothing erases bad memories like hope. On the other hand, Jason Elam had a rough night against the Jaguars.
New Orleans Saints – Drew Brees performed as expected. It will be key for Brees to get off to a good start, unlike last year when he suced for the first four games. Second year wide receiver Robert Meacham, who spent last season on the sidelines, may give Brees a potent weapon to line up opposite Marques Colston. DUDS – The sorry Saints third and long defense, their Achiles Heel in 2007.
Green Bay Packers – Ryan Grant = Dud. First he signa a huge contract. Now he’s hurt. What are the odds? Stud – Well, Aaron Rodgers, maybe. If he can get out of the shadows.
San Diego Chargers - Jacob Hester. Believe me, this guy is going to contribute. I watched him at LSU and he’s all hustle.
Carolina Panthers – Julius Peppers. The sack machine is back.
