It was just a few weeks ago that I called out a warning to the rest of the NFL that the Seattle Seahawks were for real. I’ve been very impressed with this team, despite my distaste for Pete Carroll, and it’s my firm belief that the Seahawks could very well go on to win a Super Bowl. That’s not to say that I’m some kind of prescient individual with a taste for the future. Any idiot could see that Seattle was hot. And this idiot did.
So what happens is that Seattle goes into Washington and overcomes a 14-point deficit early to come back and win in the first round of the playoffs. Granted, Washington with a hobbled RG3 is not the same team as the Redskins with a healthy RG3. If anything can be learned from this, and I think Mike Shanahan is going to take a ton of criticism for playing Griffin, it’s that Seattle is capable on the road as well as at home.
Now we’ll see the Seahawks travel to Atlanta where they’ll take on the Falcons in the Georgia Dome. I’m calling this one for Seattle. I just believe this is a steamroller moving forward. Falcons fans, having watched their team blow two playoff games in the last two seasons, have to be sweating on this matchup. The Seattle Seahawks are confident, they’ve got a great defense, and they’ve got a running back who’s tearing it up. Not to mention a rookie quarterback that seems to do everything right.
