The ESPN NFL Power Rankings are out again this week so we’ll take a look. NFL tickets are purchased by fans for their favorite team but there’s no doubt that highly ranked teams tend to attract ticket buyers when they come to town. I myself will pick certain NFL tickets for my home team and purchase extra for highly ranked teams. But I don’t always agree with ESPN.
San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers find themselves on top the ESPN Power Rankings by virtue of defense, a promising young quarterback, and a victory over the Patriots. Hard to argue with but let’s see how they handle a hot Seattle Seahawks this week.
Denver Broncos – With the Broncos having won nine straight games and a pair of snoozers at the end, it’s easy to see why they’re labeled the strongest team in the AFC. We won’t get a good read on them until the playoffs now but I do wonder if this isn’t all smoke and mirrors and schedule.
Houston Texans – Houston bounced back nicely last week but in my opinion remain vulnerable to an accurate quarterback and good receivers.
New England Patriots – Definitely not the hottest team around and the 49ers proved a good pass rush will beat Tom Brady. Still, the Patriots will bite you in the butt if you don’t watch out.
Atlanta Falcons – I’m not convinced yet. Only a playoff win would let me rank the Falcons better than #8.
Green Bay Packers – Getting better but not there yet.
Seattle Seahawks – Watch out for these guys. I’m calling for a Seattle upset of the Niners.
