Jets Upend Steelers 2-13
In this week’s upset picks in the NFL I went with the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins. I missed all three. After going 3-0 last week and expressing the idea that statistically things would even out, I got blasted. In doing so I missed the biggest upset of all.
The New York Jets have been an absolute disaster in 2014. Rex Ryan is going to be out of a job after the season, there’s little doubt about that. But at least he’ll have on glorious weekend to look back on after his Jets upset the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-13 yesterday in New York in front of a hometown crowd so starved for victory that one fan hired a plane to fly around calling for the firing of practically everyone in the organization.
Goint into it, few NFL fans could have foreseen what would happen. After all, Ben Roethlisberger was the hottest quarterback in the NFL, having thrown 12 touchdown passes in two games. The Jets on the other hand were reeling from eight straight losses. In the world of the NFL things change in a heartbeat. New York forced four turnovers, got solid play from Michael Vick, and walked away with a 20-13 win that might inspire the New York Jets to finish the 2014 NFL season with some dignity.

I picked the Dolphins and they lost 20-16. Close, but no cigar. I will point out though, that it took a touchdown pass with less than 30 seconds on the clock for Detroit to seal the deal.
I picked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Why, I don’t know. I guess I’m a sucker for loveable losers.
I also went with the Buffalo Bills. I’m an idiot. I though I had nailed at least one of these when BUffalo led by 10 points in the 4th quarter. Five minutes later I was skunked.
