In a kind of reversal of attitude the NFL announced today that they’ll be relaxing some rules about crowd noise in games. Most NFL tickets holders could care less about noise rules but for a long time the league wanted to make things more “fair” for thr visiting team and threfore tried to hold things down to a dull roar. Now, when a visiting offense heads for the line, the home stadium can broadcast exhortations for the crowd to cheer loudly. Of course they can’t pipe in crowd noise or have people blow those funky soccer horns or anything like that. But the restrictions on getting the most from the home crowd have been lited, making NFL tickets more attractive by freeing up and pumping up the crowd. Good move NFL.
