The New York Jets are struggling now and have been struggling. It looks like they will continue to struggle. With Mark Sanchez at the helm the Jets were once a good NFL team, capable of reaching almost, but not quite, to the Super Bowl. Few could have predicted the state to which they seem to have fallen. Now it’s up to Rex Ryan to revive the franchise and quite honestly there seems very little chance that New Yorkers will grow to love their boisterous coach with the continually running mouth.
Now Ryan is drawing even more heat. It’s not like they had a great quarterback situation before. With Sanchez at the helm the New York Jets seem to be only one errant throw away from disaster on any given play. The stunningly good defense that carried them to an AFC Championship is just a shadow of it’s former self. Some pinned their hopes on Geno Smith, believing the rookie could come in and beat out Mark Sanchez in an even competition. Instead, Smith has shown flashes of potential, but he’s also shown his inexperience, throwing three interceptions in his last substantial outing.
Each and every day the situation gets more out of hand for the New York Jets and there’s only one solution. Win some games. Rex Ryan is battling for his job and Vegas wouldn’t give you very good odds against his keeping it. The fans are howling for blood. The media is howling for blood. No Roman audience ever screamed louder for their wished to be fulfilled. But let the Jets start winning and believe me everything will be forgiven. An unlikely scenario I admit. But it could happen couldn’t it? Couldn’t it?
