The first round of the NFL draft is over and that’s good enough to excite a frenzy in NFL tickets holders. Let’s look at some of the top picks.
Houston Texans – The Texans may have had the chance to trade out of this pick but chose Jadeveon Clowney instead, refusing to pass up a shot at the most highly regarded pass rusher in years. Teamed with A.J. Watt, Houston should be able to make Andrew Luck very uncomfortable for the next few years.
St. Louis Rams – The Rams chose Greg Robinson of Auburn, OT, to help protect Sam Bradford. They followed it up with Aaron Donald, defensive tackle. Obviously the Rams are building on the theory that games are won in the trenches.
Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars need a quarterback. They got one with Blake Bortles, bypassing the Manziel circus and picking what many see as the most NFL ready quarterback in this year’s draft. Bortles could be an immediate starter for Jacksonville and help revive flagging ticket sales.
Buffalo Bills – Sammy Watkins was just too much to pass on for the Bills. Buffalo traded with the Cleveland Browns to move up five spots and grab the pass catcher from Clemson. EJ Manuel reportedly cried with happiness.
Oakland Raiders – As criticized as some of the Raiders picks have been of late, choosing Khalil Mack won’t be on of them. Mack is dominant and versatile and immediately improves the Raiders defense.
Cleveland Browns – The Cleveland Browns either blew a pick or got a steal with Johnny Manziel at #22. Time will tell but it’s obvious the Cleveland wanted a big attention grabber and ticket seller.Eric Drouant
