Dallas Cowboys Tickets and Schedule

You have to love the Dallas Cowboys. they’ve got the whole organizational revamping thing down pat. The Cowboys are talented, no doubt. But somehow they seem to lose focus when the crunch time comes. Why is a team this good always looking for the spark? Some blame Jerry Jones and others blame Tony Romo. After a 2012 season in which the Dallas Cowboys won only eight games it seems it was time to blame Rob Ryan and the defense. They all got canned.

So, for 2013 the Dallas Cowboys will be featuring a 4-3 defense under the guidance of Monte Kiffin. We’ll get to the offense later. Kiffin is coming in with a whole new setup. That means positieMarcus Ware. The linebacker group now looks like Bruce Carter and Sean Lee manning the middle and weak side. Someone will get a chance to make their case for starting on the strong side in training camp, probably Alex Albright. The Dallas defense didn’t seem to get a lot of attention in the draft though. J.J. Wilcox was the first pick on that side of the ball, coming in the 3rd Round. From there Dallas went with B.W. Webb in the 4th. Having used their top pick on Morris Claiborne last season they may have felt secure there.

Or maybe it’s all about Romo. The Cowboys took a Center in the 1st Round, a Tight End in the 2nd, and a Wide Receiver in the 3rd. Is that telling us something? It certainly is. Dallas and Jerry Jones are committed to winning with Romo. Jones has gone as far as bringing in the quarterback to help with game planning. If they want to do that they need to get Tony Romo some help in the ground game. They’re hoping DeMarco Murray can return to form but if he doesn’t you’ll see 5th Round pick Joseph Randle get a chance. At least Dez Bryant appears to be paying off and if Miles Austin is healthy he’s a dependable receiver. Then there’s Jason Witten and 3rd Round choice Terrance Williams out of Baylor.

In the end it’s all about getting to the playoffs and winning. Tony Romo has the full backing of Jerry Jones despite the fact he’s been a winner in only one post-season game. That won’t be good enough for long. The Cowboys have put all their eggs in the Romo basket and a new defense. With the Giants and the surging Redskins in their division that basket has to hold together.
