If you like the Las Vegas oddsmakers, you probably don’t have too many doubts about the results of the upcoming New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks playoff game. Those guys have the Saints winning by 11, an uncommonly large spread in an NFL playoff contest.
But for those of us who have been following the Saints, there’s a little discomfort about whether our heroes can actually even win. The Saints have little to no running game. Or if they do, they’ve disguised it well. Injuries at the position have just decimated the talent. Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, Lynell Hamilton, all on IR. That leaves Reggie Bush, the world’s greatest decoy, as the go-to guy. There are very few of us who have any faith in Reggie Bush as an every down back actually running the ball.
The Seattle Seahawks have two advantages in my thinking. One, they’re at home. Not having to travel and having the home crowd on your side makes a difference. Two, they have absolutely nothing to lose in a game they never expected to play. Guys with nothing to lose are dangerous.Eric Drouant
