NFL Lockout – Not Looking Good

by on June 5, 2011 updated June 5, 2011

Of course it could end at any time, but from what went on in a courtroom the other day it might be a good long time before we see NFL football. It’s all about money, but in this case it’s about being the guy with the power to control the money. The NFL owners want absolute power. The players don’t want to give up the power they have and become tokens.

Reading over what was said in the courtroom though, I get the feeling that the owners may be digging in for the long haul. NFL attorney Paul Clement stated that his side may need as much as a year to digest the situation and see just how the NFL and labor laws relate to each other. As much as a year! Is this the truth or is this just a cagy NFL lawyer sending a message to the players?

I can’t see how this could be true. Everybody in the whole world knew this was coming. Are you trying to tell me that the NFL wasn’t looking into the legal aspects until it actually happened? Hah! I absolutely can’t believe that. The National Football League began preparing for this years ago, hence the attempted “lockout insurance” deal with the TV networks. Let’s get real and settle this thing. You’re alienating NFL fans and we’re about fed up with the kit and kaboodle of you, owners and players both.
