NFL Draft Interest

by on April 19, 2008 updated April 19, 2008

Before the first NFL camps open there is the draft. Before the NFL draft there are the predictions. Most experts are looking for the Miami Dolphins to pick quarterback Matt Ryan of Boston College with the first pick of the draft. I don’t have a problem with that. But can the Dolphins afford to wait and let Matt Ryan develop or will he be thrown to the wolves right off the bat? There are two schools of thought. First, Peyton Manning was thrown into the fray and took his lumps. That certainly worked out for the Indianapolis Colts. On the other hand, David Carr just took a beating for the Houston Texans and ended up a shell shocked bundle of nerves. The difference? The Colts made better picks in the ensuing years, building a Super Bowl team around Manning. The Texans bumbled along, never getting past the point of mediocrity. In Miami, Bill Parcells can be expected to pick good players. Matt Ryan is a solid choice.
