NFL Draft – Hits and Misses Picks 6-19

by on May 1, 2015 updated May 1, 2015

Leonard Williams – The New York Jets went with the best player available and no doubt that was Leonard Williams. This pick gives the Jets what may be the best defensive line in the AFC and makes it possible to think about trading some talent for more picks or a starting player at another position. Does this mean the Jets will start making sensible moves? Hit

Kevin White – Jay Cutler should be happy. Kevin White is big, fast, and acts as an excellent compliment to Eddie Royal and Alshon Jeffery. Hit

Vic Beasley – Atlanta needed a pass rusher and got one in Vic Beasley. He also seems to be a non-troubled player and benefited from the fall of some other probably equally talented players. Quinn will build around Beasley. Hit

Ereck Flowers – Not a flashy pick but understandable. The New York Giants wanted big and nasty and Flowers gives them that. Now, can he become a left tackle in a year or two? Maybe

Todd Gurley – This pick makes me nervous. The St. Louis Rams must be confident in the injured knee and patient enough to wait for Todd Gurley to heal. But at #10 he’s a risk and that kind of risk isn’t needed this high. Miss (only because more certain players were available)
