NBA’s Atlanta Hawks – The New Deal

by on November 13, 2008 updated April 19, 2014

I’ve got a friend in Atlanta. He’s a sports nut, as many of us are, and addicted to games of every type. He regularly touts the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Thrashers as the teams to beat in the south. For several years he’s been promising me that the Atlanta Hawks will be the newest incarnation of a Phoenix, rising from their ignoble ashes to claim their proper place in the NBA pecking order.

It may just be that their time has come. The Atlanta Hawks have put together their best start in over a decade, running out to a 6-0 start before falling to the Boston Celtics, the same team they pushed to the limit last year in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. These same Atlanta Hawks pushed the Celtics to the limit again, losing 103-102. Maybe my friend will be right and this is the year the Atlanta Hawks gain some real credibility in the NBA. Hey Dave, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
