Every now and then I like to step back and kinda take a long view of things. Like seeing the trees despite the forest. Just choosing randomly I went with Major League Baseball for this foray into stupidity and unsubstantiated guessing. Hopefully, by the time I’m done, I will have proven that I know nothing about most things and very little about everything else. Anyway, in the American League, I’m loving the coming showdown between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. But even as I’m watching this race, with the Sox ahead by a mere three games at this point, I can’t help but wonder if I’m kidding myself. Isn’t it possible that the Tampa Bay Rays or amazingly, the Toronto Blue Jays, could suddenly rocket to the to of the AL East? There’s only ten games between the leader and the 4th place team and we’re only at the midway point of the MLB season. Stranger things have happened. And that’s just the East.
The Central also bears some watching. Again, we’re looking at about ten games seperation. The Detroit Tigers hold a slim lead with the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins running neck and neck. Ditto the West. In fact, lets’ just go as far out on a limb and predict that the AMerican League is anyone’s to take. No, seriously, I mean it. How can you count anyone out? In the Twilight Zone of the MLB there’s…….something on the wing.Eric Drouant
