MLB Playoffs – Cardinals vs Giants – Walk Off and 2-1

Giants Take 5-4 Victory on Error

The San Francisco Giants come alive in the postseason it seems. The Cardinals became the latest victim of their own mistakes when Randy Choate became Randy Goat by tossing an errant throw, allowing Brandon Crawford to score the winning run in an extra inning game to put San Francisco up 2-1 in the NL Championship Series. Seeing as Choate was the guy who put him on with a walk in the first place, Crawford should probably send a thank you note.

It’s not like St. Louis didn’t have a chance to win the thing. After watching the Giants pound them for four runs in the 1st, the Cardinals managed to grind out a couple in the 4th inning and followed that up with a single run in both the 6th and 7th.

The Cardinals get a chance to even things up on Wednesday night in what’s turning out to be a pretty good series. Ryan Vogelsong should be on the mound for the Giants. Indications right now that the Cardinals will be pitching Shelby Miller. Looking at this from a baseball statistical view, San Francisco should be feeling pretty good. Vogelsong keeps the runs down in the postseason and he’s won all five of his playoff starts. On the other hand, Yadier Molina may be getting healthy and be back behind the plate come Wednesday.
