McEnroe and Borg Revisited

by on June 19, 2011 updated June 19, 2011

Sometimes being stuck in a hotel room miles from home can give you time to catch things you might otherwise miss. Having spent hours in the desert on my recent business trip I found myself in a Marriot with the TV on and some free time.

While I must admit that tennis hasn’t been my favorite sport, I have no doubt that the millions of tennis fans out there would like to see the McEnroe-Borg special now airing. This is one of the greatest rivalries in tennis history, a matching of two entirely different styles that create a synergy the tennis world really hasn’t seen since.

Through it all, Borg and McEnroe face each other at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, and countless other tournaments. Though rivals, the develop a friendship and a symbiotic relationship. They need each other to achieve their individual goals. And it’s nice at the end when you realize that this friendship endures to this day and has only gotten stronger as the years passed. If you can catch this show, I recommend it.
