Major League Baseball – Playoff Pictures Gets Clearer

by on September 25, 2013 updated September 25, 2013

The Baseball season is drawing to a close and the muddled scene we saw a few weeks ago is beginning to grow some sharper edges. Let’s go through this and see where we might be looking to pick up on some playoff tickets in the MLB.

AL East – The Boston Red Sox have clinched the division. The Tampa Bay Rays are the next most likely team in this group to grab a Wild Card spot.

AL Central – The Detroit Tigers are the clear winners here, having clinched a playoff spot. It looks unlikely that Cleveland can catch them but the Indians are in prime position to grab a post-season berth.

AL West – Oakland is in. The Texas Rangers are still in contention.

NL East – Once again the Atlanta Braves are winners in the NL East. Hopefully they can reap the rewards.

NL Central – Here it gets really interesting. The St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cincinnati Reds have already clinched playoff spots. The NL Central is still there for anyone.

NL West – The LA Dodgers win it in 2013
