Letting Go of Leinart

by on September 4, 2010 updated September 4, 2010

The Arizona Cardinals are only one season away from playing in a Super Bowl. They are less than a season away from playing in the playoffs. The Super Bowl effort ended with a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the playoff loss came at the hands of the New Orleans Saints. Both opportunities came under the guidance of Kurt Warner. But now warner is gone and for awhile it looked as if the Cardinals would at last be the team of Matt Leinart.

Alas, it appears not to be. The rumored party boy and less than perfect teammate is now riding the knife edge of an ignonimous release from the Cardinals roster. arizona is rumored to be looking for a trade for the former USC star, whose claim to fame now looks to be a good showing in a losing effort in the BCS National Championship Game. It’s a long fall from #1 draft pick to shaking hands with the Turk. Bu according to sources close to the Arizona Cardinals,Leinart has failed to take advantage of his own talent and the tutelage of Kurt Warner. So be it.
