Well, it was a great ride but it ended in bitterness. Tom Watson faltered on the final holes and gave up the ghost to a super nice Stewart Clink. It was a tough pill to swallow for the over 50 set who were looking to Watson to claim the British Open. A little too much to ask? No, I don’t think so. It just wasn’t meant to be. In the game of golf anything can happen and the little white ball is fickle. Watson can hold his head up high and the rest of us can learn a lesson: You’re really never too old as long as the desire is still there.
