They Finally Did It – OKC KOs the Spurs

Since their beginning in 2008 the Oklahoma City Thunder have made their presence known to all of the NBA teams as an up and comer.  In their first year as the Thunder, the team drafted point guard Russell Westbrook and power forward Serge Ibaka.  And the year before they had drafted Kevin Durant.  I would guess that no one would have predicted that this team would be going to the NBA Finals in just 3 years.

Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder were up against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.  The Thunder was up 3-2 until the end of the game, which they won.  For the first time in Thunder history, this team is going to the NBA Finals.  The Thunder overcame a 2-0 deficit in the series and won four straight gams to take the series.  The score was 107-99.

Last year, the Thunder came  close to going to the NBA Finals but were defeated by the Mavericks.  The Thunder have finally done it.  This team is most likely the favorite going into the Finals as they beat the original favorite to win it all with the Spurs.

In Game 6, the Thunder’s Big 3 showed up.  Kevin Durant had 34 points and 14 rebounds, Russell Westbrook had 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, and James Harden had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  These three players plus others like Ibaka and Perkins are the new dominant force in the NBA.  I believe that this Oklahoma City Thunder team will be like the Spurs in the early 2000s.

My prediction is that the Thunder will win it all.  Watch the Oklahoma City Thunder in their first ever NBA Finals matchup against either the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat.  Get your tickets now at Frontrow.com.
