Feasting on the Fiesta Bowl

My good friend Dancin Dave recently had the kindness to point out to me that the Oklahoma Sooners have been in three National Championship games since 2000. This was after I of course mentioned that the LSU Tigers were in the BCS National Championship game in his adopted home town of New Orleans. I remember well the long weeks of depression Dave suffered after those same LSU Tigers defeated his beloved Sooners in the Sugar Bowl a few years back.

Anyway, not that I’ve got my dig in on Dave let me be the first to congratulate the Sooners on their BCS berth in the Fiesta Bowl. There were some who felt the Sooners were the best team in the country, especially after their 38-17 win over Missouri. Were losses to unranked Texas Tech and Colorado the undoing of the Oklahoma Sooners? Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of the BCS?

The Big East will send West Virginia to the Fiesta Bowl, a 10-2 team that notched wins over Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Rutgers.  Just to rankle Dave, I’m picking the Mountaineers. HA!
