New England Patriots tickets are hard to come by for a reason. Everyone loves a winner and New England has been one of the most successful franchises in NFL history. But where do they go from here?
A quick recap off the top of my head. Wes Welker is gone. Patriots ticket holders loved this guy. The toughest player in football some say and he was allowed to head to the Denver Broncos over a million bucks or so. Don’t worry Patriots fans said, we have Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. When these two are healthy and on the field they make up the best tight end combination in the NFL. But, Gronkowski may not play this season due to surgery on his arm and back. Hernandez at this writing is in jail, suspected of murder and cut from the team. Huge, huge, events.
So now even more falls on Tom Brady and he’s lost a favorite receiver. The ground game will have to carry New England for a while. The defense isn’t likely to do it. The Patriots finisihed near the bottom of the NFL in pass defense last season and 25th in total defense. They were in the Top 10 in rush defense but who bothered to try and run against them when passing was so easy. Only a prolific offense pushed New England to the AFC Championship.
If ever a team and a coach were going to be tested it’s the 2013 New England Patriots. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick may have to find a way to use Tim Tebow in a creative way just to man the tight end position. I don’t see him competing for a backup quarterback spot. At best he’s #3 and an emergency option. We’ll find out in 2013 if Belichick is a genius at coaching or just picking football players this season.
