Curses, Foiled Again

by on April 14, 2008 updated April 19, 2014

In one of the more amusing sports stories this week, the New York Yankees have averted disaster. Apparently, construction worker, also a Boston Red Sox fan, concealed a Red Sox jersey inside the concrete in the new Yankee Stadium. I have a few questions:

Did this guy really believe this would curse the Yankees? Isn’t winning two World Series since the Yankees last won good enough?

Did the Yankees really believe this was jeapordizing their future? And how much did it cost to expend the effort to dig up cement and remove this thing?

Sadly enough, I’ve witnessed even worse. More than once there have been misguided souls attempting to employ VooDoo to remove the curse over a hapless New Orleans Saints team.

As Hunter S. Thompson said “When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.”
