As much as it will pain my friend Dancins Dave, his Oklahoma Sooners are out of the poicture when it comes to a BCS Bowl, in my opinion. Dave hates to admit that the SEC is the best conference in the country, For proof, I turn to the latest polls, which have the Florida Gators at #1, and the Alabama Crimson Tide at #2 after a win over the LSU Tigers. Dave, both those teams are in the SEC. I will give you your Texas Longhorns as a consolation prize though.
But lurching in the background like a Frankenstein monster enraged by the fires of disrespect, two teams from other conferences considered lesser by the powers that be wait to wreak disruption on the gods of the BCS. The TCU Horned Frogs are 9-0, ranked 4th in the country. The Boise State Cowboys, one of my favorite teams, is now at the 6-spot, also unbeaten, and have made a steady advance in the polls and into the national consciousness. Unfortunately, those beastly BCS nimrods are only obligated to invite one team to the party, even if both finish ranked among the best dozen teams in the country. Imagine the outcry. Right now, one of the pretty boys would have to fall and fall hard before either TCU or Boise State would be mentioned in the same breath as the BCS National Championship game. While I personall don’t believe either of them would be undefeated if they played in the SEC, their fans can still dream the impossible dream can’t they? Can’t they?
