The Cincinnati Bengals took full advantage of the AFC North troubles in 2013. With Baltimore rebuilding after a Super Bowl, the Steelers waylaid by injury, and Cleveland basically just being Cleveland, Cincinnati cruised to an 11-5 record and a division title. Along the way they met up with the San Diego Chargers in San Diego and came away with a road win. That game highlights what the Bengals do best, which is run the football and give Andy Dalton some breathing room. Dalton has had an up and down season but if he’s got a solid running game against the Chargers he should be able to do some damage.

San Diego will be riding the arm of Philip Rivers, one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Rivers has enough of a receiving corp in Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates to put him in the Top 10 category. He ranks third in quarterback overall ratings and is among the leaders in yardage. Cincinnati’s defense will have a tough time trying to slow down the San Diego passing attack. Fans should expect heavy does of the running game from Cincinnati to keep Rivers off the field.

Both the Chargers and Bengals should be ready to play on Sunday. neither team has been succsful in the postseason as of late and both want that factor to change. The Bengals have the edge in this one with home field advantage and a more balanced offensive attack. But that all goes out the window as San Diego brings an experienced quarterback and a grudge.
