This is a family blog. Or is it? At the very least we try to maintain some sense of decorum, some remnant of polite journalism. We faill often but believe me we do try. So you might want to divert your kid’s attention from the next sentence. The follwing is taken from an article currently running on SB Nation:
Barry Switzer told a radio show in St. Louis that Johnny Manziel is an “arrogant little p**ck”. There, we said it, or at least we wrote it down. That’s a pretty strong statement Barry. Got anything to back that up? “He’s a privileged little kid. He’s embarrassed himself, he’s embarrassed his teammates, his program, he’s embarrassed his coach. And they’ll all have to defend him because they have to coach him. I know how it works. I spent 40 years in the game so I know how it works.”
I was never a fan of Barry Switzer but as we stand on the brink of the 2014 NFL Draft I believe that Switzer has verbalized the greatest fear of every NFL General Manager out there. For all his potential, any team drafting Johnny Manziel is staring down the loaded barrel of a potential public relations nightmare should Manziel go off his rocker in any way. Known for his bravado and his tendency to get in the face of opponents, Manziel is suspect when it comes to handling the pressure of a high profile NFL quarterbacking position. That fear is compounded when you realize that Manziel may not go into the best position in the NFL. He won’t go to a winning team, laden with talent, just waiting for the right triggerman. More than likely, Johnny Football ends up with a rebuilding project that requires a few season to come to fruition.
And he’ll have a guaranteed contract and the ability to self destruct and still get paid. It’s enough to keep an NFL GM awake at night.
