AFC Wild Cards could get Wild

by on January 1, 2008 updated January 1, 2008

First things first: The AFC will determine the winner of the Super Bowl. I can’t see any team in the NFC prevailing over the top four teams in the AFC, which in my determination are the Patriots, Steelers, Chargers, and Colts. That being said, anything can happen. But it’s not likely.

The first game of the day on Sunday is the San Diego Chargers and the Tennessee Titans. San Diego started out poorly but has come on lately. They ARE showing signs of becoming the dominant team everyone expected before the season. I will re-iterate my previously expressed opinion though: NO COACH NAMED NORV WILL EVER WIN A SUPER BOWL. Write it down. The Chargers however are likely to beat Tennessee. The Titans just aren’t there yet.

Later we’ll see the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars. I’m really looking forward to this game but I don’t know if I’ll see it. By Sunday I’ll be in Iraq, which is a bummer. Anyway, I’m pretty torn on this game. The Jaguars have the edge on offense because of their superior ground game. The loss of Willie Parker will hurt the Steelers. On the flip side the Steelers have the advantage in quarterback talent. My prediction? Just a gut feeling it’s going to be the Jags but there’s nothing solid I can hang my hat on.
