AFC South – Colts Reign Supreme

by on July 9, 2008 updated July 9, 2008

The AFC South once again belongs to the Indianapolis Colts. Knocking them off their throne is the first order of business for any ther team in the division, the AFC, and possibly the NFL. Tony Dungy has been succesful so long other NFL coaches are burning candles and asking for his retirement.

Indianapolis Colts – Peyton Manning barely needs a coordinator. he has as much or more control of playcalling than any other quarterback in the NFL. The Colts offense is simply superb. The 2008 NFL season may be Dungy’s last year so expect the Colts to be motivated…..and deadly.

Jacksonville Jaguars – If any team in the AFC South has a chance to unseat the Colts it’s probably the Jaguars. David Garrard is emerging as a gutty quarterback who can get the job done. Running back is in good shape with Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Wide receiver should be better with some offseason pickups. Expect defensive improvements.

Houston Texans – Hopes are riding high for the Houston Texans. An 8-8 season, the Texans best yet, means Gary Kubiak has this team on the right track. Mario Williams is finally paying dividends. But it’s hard to imagine the Texans getting good enough to outplay the Colts or even the Jags. Still, a winning season could be in the cards.

Tennessee Titans – Vince Young aside the Titans haven’t made any major improvements. Defense, in a division with the Colts, needs to get much better quickly. The Titans are a dark horse.
