AFC North Preview – 2012 Baltimore Ravens

by on July 22, 2012 updated July 22, 2012

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens won the AFC North with a 12-4 record.  The Ravens were unfortunately eliminated in the AFC Conference Championship against the Patriots.  Considering they were just one dropped touchdown pass away from a Superbowl appearance isn’t bad for the Ravens.  This Ravens team should be the favorite to win this division for years to come.  With the Browns and Bengals rebuilding and the Steelers aging, the Ravens have the upper hand to win this division year after year.

Just like the Steelers, the Ravens are known for their high flying and explosive defense.  Two of the greatest players ever to play football, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, said that they don’t plan on retiring any time soon.  Ed Reed is now playing in his 11th season and hasn’t seemed to let up.  Over 11 years, he has over 545 tackles, six sacks, 94 pass deflections, 57 interceptions, six defensive touchdowns, and 11 forced fumbles.

To have a solid safety will scare quarterbacks.  Now imagine having a top 3 safety and top 3 linebacker.  Other than Reed, the other anchor on this defense is Ray Lewis.  Ray Lewis has played 17 seasonsa and still plays like he’s in his twenties.  In his career, he has 1,279 tackles, 40.5 sacks, 66 pass deflections, 31 interceptions, 3 defensive touchdowns, and 16 forced fumbles.  As long as these two are in Ravens uniforms, this team will continue to be a force to reckon with and a consistent playoff contender.

Ravens fans, see your Ravens make some more noise in the AFC.  They should be one of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Superbowl next year.  Don’t miss a single moment of the season; get your tickets now at Frontrow.com.
