Crimson Tide Escapes

It was a close one but the Alabama Crimson Tide got out of their game against Auburn with a late surge. Keeping Alabama fans on the edge of their seats, as they watched a perfect season slip away, hasn’t been something those fans are used to. But they got the win and it sets up a great matchup between the Florida Gators and Alabama, the winner likely going on to a BCS National Championship Game.  Frankly, it was a bad time for the Tide to go soft against an inferior Auburn Tigers team. But all teams experience a slump at some point. On Friday it was the Tigers turn to play over their heads and the Tide’s turn to stumble. Now it gets down to the niity gritty. The Crimson Tide have a chance to knock off the defending BCS National Champions and it ain’t gonna be a piece of cake. The SEC rules.

Tiger Woods – I’m an Excellent Driver

Tiger Woods is known for making the long drive, putting himself in an ideal position to mop up the competition. But woods now finds himself in the position of having to explain a bad drive. According to reports, Woods was out driving late the other night and had himself an incident with a fire hydrant and a tree. The man who has ignited golf tickets over the last decade had to be removed from the vehicle with, what else, a golf club.

Strangely enough, there has been no substantial word to the press or the police as to what actually happened yet. Strange isn’t it? Millionaire athlete, late night, automobile accident, and yet no statement of facts. Wierd.

NFL Tickets – Upset Specials

I have to say that this was a pretty good week for upsets in the NFL. You know how it is. There are some games where you feel absolutely confident in your predictions. They’re just no-brainers. But every once in awhile that feeling can come back and bite you. That happened this week in two games.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been as hot as any team in the NFL. That’s kind of caught the NFL by surprise itself but still, you can’t deny that the Bengals have played extremely well this season and pundits are calling for them to go well into the playoffs. But today they got beat by the Oakland Raiders of all people. With Bruce Gadowski at quarterback the Raiders rallied from down a touchdown, forced a fumble late, and beat Cincinnati for just their third win of the season.

Across the country the Kansas City Chiefs provided a stunner by whipping the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime. That breaks a 10 game losing streak in the Chiefs home field. Even worse for Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger got knocked out of the game with a possible concussion.

Patriots vs Saints Tickets – NFL Ticket of the Week

It’s coming on Monday Night Football. Patriots vs Saints tickets have captured the attention of NFL football fans across the country. The New England Patriots are considered by some to be the best balanced team in the AFC, despite a weak start and a recent loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Tom Brady seems to have regained his form and the Patriots offense is clicking. At 7-3 the Patriots are in good shape for a playoff spot and have regained their usual spot atop the division.

The New Orleans Saints are also leading their division and by a healthy margin. Few could foresee the rise of the Saints defense into one of the most opportunistic in the NFL. What they could foresee was the Saints offense being an explosive force, leading the league in points scored and yardage. With Drew Brees at the helm the Saints can score on anybody and usually do.

Now the Patriots and Saints will light up the Superdome on Monday Night Football and NFL fans have begun to realize that this matchup could occur again in the Super Bowl in Miami.  It’s a classic NFL matchup between a tried and true established NFL powerhouse and an upstart renegade looking to make their mark. Can the New Orleans Saints upset the apple cart by dumping the Patriots? Or will New England and experience prevail? Patriots vs Saints ticket hold the answer.

NFL Playoff Tickets – My Top Four

On the way to the Super Bowl in Miami, NFL teams will have to make the playoffs. With a mere seven games left in the season it’s time to take a look at the most likely contenders for sunny Florida. It’s a useless exercise I admit, since the Wild Card option seems to be playing out well in recent years. But let’s try it anyway.

New Orleans Saints – While the Saints seem to have a lock on the NFC South, it’s difficult to be optimistic about a Super Bowl after watching them play for the last few weeks. Still, they have the best offense in the NFL and if the defense can hang together, they’ve got a date in Miami.

Minnesota Vikings – Can Brett Favre really do this? Probably not but Adrian Peterson can. Overall, the Vikings ma be the most balanced team in the NFL and have been free of major injury.

Indianapolis Colts – While the Colts will always be in the mix with Manning on board, winning a Super Bowl is the ultimate goal. Injuries to the defense could hinder they’re cause bit the Colts will be in the playoffs.

New England Patriots – The Patriots looked ill early in the season but have regained some for. Except on defense. I don’t think this D is as good as past teams but with Brady on board, and Big bill calling the shots, you can never dismiss the Patriots.

NFL Tickets – NFC East is a Brewing Battle

If there’s a topsy turvy division in the NFL it’s got to be the NFC East. It was all supposed to be so easy. The New York Giants ran out to 5-0 and looked like the class of the division. Meanwhile the Philadelphia Eagles struggled and so did the Dallas Cowboys. The Washington Redskins, well, not much expected and not much received.

But now things are different. And no team in this division looks like a world beater. The Giants have now lost 4 straight and seem to have no soul. The Dallas Cowboys have talent but a schizo personality. The Philadelphia Eagles have been more consistent, except for a baffling loss to Oakland, but the fate of Brian Westbrook will play heavily into their future. In the NFC East, every team is vulnerable and every team has it’s weaknesses. The winner of this division will be the team that can rally, get back to basics, and play respectable football down the stretch. But make no mistake, every NFC East game from here on out will be a war.

Atlanta Hawks Tickets – Flying High

The Atlanta Hawks are real predators. Reclaimed from the dust the Hawks have been on a rebuilding program that is now bearing fruit. While there were firm indications that Atlanta was on the right path late last season, the results are coming in now and they look good.

Atlanta Hawks tickets holders have watched their team go on a six game winning streak, the last being a 15-point win over the Miami Heat. This puts the Hawks in the unique position of being an NBA frontrunner early in the season, on a par with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Can the atlanta Hawks keep it up? If Joe Johnson and Josh Smith can stay healthy the whole season the Hawks will be contenders in the NBA. It’s still a long way off, but there’s no reason to believe they’ll falter.

Patriots vs Saints-Counting My Chickens

OK, it’s time to count our chickens before they hatch. I’m hoping the New England Patriots vs New Orleans Saints game lives up to it’s billing. I think it will. Here’s the scenario: The New England Patriots have been crowned the elite team of the NFL for several years now. And justifiably so. The Patriots have won the Super Bowl enough times to deserve recognition. They’ve been the only team in the NFL to go undefeated in the regular season since the Miami Dolphins in 72.  Now though, New England is in a position of having to prove itself all over again. The Patriots are 6-3, and reeling from a controversial loss to their arch-rival nemesis the Indianapolis Colts. They’ll have to get their revenge on the New York Jets, then travel to the Crescent City to play what should be an undefeated New Orleans Saints team. It’s just the kind of stage Tom Brady has thrived on during his career.

For the New Orleans Saints, it’s a chance to beat an NFL team featuring one of the best quarterbacks in history, and a coach who’s probably headed for the Hall of Fame along with that quarterback. Belichick is considered a mastermind, a title Saints Head Coach Sean Payton certainly is building toward. There’s going to be a lot riding on this game and I’m counting on this contest to be one of the best of the year.

NFL Tickets – Patriots Fall Short

There’s no doubt that the New England Patriots tickets holders are questioning their Head Coach. Bill Belichick is on the hot seat after the Pats lost a close game to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night. Basically, Belichick put the game in the hands of Tom Brady. It didn’t happen. Now the Patriots guru is being derided for not trusting his defense. In a way, that’s a back handed insult to the offense. The same folks who idolize Brady are now claiming that Belichick should never have trusted his offense, led by his MVP, Pro Bowl quarterback, to win the game.  Pick your position fellas, no flip flopping.

The truth is it was not a bad decision. Payton Manning had the hot hand. Giving him the ball with enough time to mount a drive was statistically akin to conceding the game. The gamble didn’t pay off. had it worked, Big Bill would have once agin been proclaimed Emporer of the NFL and the legions of fans now screaming in his ear would have smugly said “I’d have done the same thing. Great call.”

NFL Tickets – Unbeaten Matchups

Obviously the hottest NFL tickets of this week are Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots tickets. Could it be any different? The Indianapolis Colts are unbeaten at 8-0. To the surprise of some, the New England Patriots have suffered a pair of losses in 2009. Does this mean the Colts will be clear favorites? Probably not. Looking over the Colts schedule I don’t think you’ll see any upper echelon NFL teams. You might make a case for the Arizona Cardinals but I’m not convinced.

As far as the New England Patriots schedule, the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos are probably the best teams they’ve faced and the Broncos beat them. The mystifying loss to the New York Jets early in the season could be a haunting factor come playoff seed time.

Regardless, I see Colts vs Patriots as another epic battle. Indianapolis has yet to face a really stern test and has been relying on the heroics of Manning to get some narrow wins. New England looked weak early but has been getting better in recent weeks. I don’t see either team as folding so this game should live up to the billing of NFL tickets of the week.
